Les réponses de Moby aux questions de Bowie

1. I was very impressed with the guitar band you put together some

years ago. Do you ever long to work in that format agin?

One of my secret dreams is to travel around north america with some

friends in a crappy little van and play punk rock in seedy bars and nightclubs.

Maybe it's because I grew up travelling around in a crappy little van playing

punk rock in seedy bars and nightclubs, but I really do have a strange and

deep love for that aesthetic. And the great satisfaction that one gets

from playing guitar really loud.

2. Are you sure that a spiritual belief is necessary for survival?

No. I don't think that a spiritual belief is at all necessary for survival.

And in a universe that's 15 billion years old and vast beyond our imaginings

I don't see how anyone can lay claim to an objective insight into the

primacy of one spiritual belief over another (although I do love the teachings

of christ, personally and subjectively).

3. Who are you making music for and why?

Oh boy. I have no idea. Myself. Everybody else. People when they're by

themselves. Inever imagine my music being listened to by more than one

person at a time.

4. Which dead artist would you have liked to have spent an evening

with?

The guy (or girl) who made the erotic cave paintings in Briaux.

5. Describe the evening and how would you both have viewed each

other?

Well, I would go over to his/her cave and he/she would tell me about what

life was like 60,000 years ago (give or take 10,000 years). Then we would

pop round to the neandrathal 7-11 and get some slurpees. And maybe look

at the hot dogs spinning around in the hot dog heater thingy.

6. Which living artist do you think should be dead?

Damian Loeb. Cos I own a bunch of his paintings and if he died they'd be worth

a lot of money. There is the issue of his being my best friend...but sacrificing

a friend for some expensive paintings seems like a fair trade...

7. What shall we be excited about tomorrow?

To see heaven in a grain of sand and eternity in a wildflower. And 'Cops'

on Fox.

8. Is there one regret yet in your short life?

That I haven't worked harder. And that I haven't spent more time in

remarkable places. Oops. That's two.

9. Are you happy the way things have gone for you or would you like

to start again?

I never expected to have even a smidgen of success, so I'm thrilled with the

way that things have gone. I always thought that I would spend the rest of

my life making music that no one would ever want to listen to. So now that

I get to make music and people actually listen to it...I'm thrilled. And I'm
a

coward, so the idea of starting again kind of intimidates me...it would be so

much work.

10. Did you know that Damian Loeb is on tour with your band and is

packin' 'em in?

I'll kill the fucker...(see answer to question #6)
